Junior Accountant
Jennings O’Donovan & Partners, a proud member of the RSK Group, is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our head office in Sligo. This role is ideal for a newly qualified or part-qualified professional looking to manage essential financial operations while supporting the commercial success of our engineering projects within a structured, CPD-certified environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Transactional Control
General Accounting: Maintain and reconcile daily and monthly bank accounts, petty cash, and foreign exchange transactions.
Ledger Management: Process purchase orders/invoices and maintain the sales ledger using modern accounting systems.
Compliance: Support the preparation of Revenue/Statutory returns, monthly/annual budgets, and cashflow forecasts.
Project & Commercial Support
Project Administration: Oversee employee timesheets to ensure precise time and expense allocation to specific engineering projects.
Cash Flow Proactivity: Partner with senior engineers to manage debtor collections and resolve client billing queries.
Internal Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for staff regarding payroll, expenses, and general finance administration queries.
Person Specification
Education: Minimum Level 8 degree in Accounting or Finance.
Professional Standing: Ideally pursuing or exempt from early-stage professional exams such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, or CIMA.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel (v-lookups and pivot tables) and experience with cloud-based software (e.g., Sage, Xero, Oracle, or CoreTime).
Soft Skills: Ability to clearly explain financial requirements to non-financial engineering staff.
Attributes: High level of accuracy, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to strict confidentiality.
