Jennings O’Donovan provided a full range of engineering and project support services for the €100 million Timahoe North Solar Farm, constructed on Bord na Móna’s brownfield lands in the Midlands. The project has an installed capacity of 108 MW, comprising extensive photovoltaic (PV) arrays and associated infrastructure such as inverters, access roads, parking, site compounds, drainage systems, amenity trails, security fencing, landscaping and peat and subsoil repositories.
A central feature of the development is the construction of a 110 kV substation, designed to connect into the existing Derryiron-Maynooth 110 kV overhead line, enabling efficient integration of renewable energy into the national grid.
Jennings O’Donovan’s responsibilities extended from preliminary civil and electrical design review through to procurement, contract administration, planning compliance and technical due diligence. The firm also acts as owner’s engineer, resident engineer, project supervisor for the design process (PSDP) and assigned certifier and serves as the single point of contact for EirGrid.
